THINK ABOUT IT

"I think we have to own the fears that we have of each other, and then, in some practical way, some daily way, figure out how to see people differently than the way we were brought up to." - Alice Walker

Spy City: Calgary's own fear profiteers.

It's bad enough when people can't see past their own fear and ignorance, but what's worse is when someone preys upon this for their own financial benefit.

Case in point would be Spy City.

Last night I attended the townhall meeting in the southwest community of Braeside where hundreds of residents crammed into the hall to the point of spilling into the street. I won't go into too much detail about the vibe and mentality of those in attendance, suffice to say I was appalled by the lack of compassion and understanding people have towards their fellow human beings to the point that I left an hour in. (Never been big on mob mentality).

I walked outside to the parking lot to find this lovely coupon clamped between my windshield and wiperblade.

If you can't make out the photo it is a $10 coupon care of Spy City, the local purveyor of "surveillance & counter surveillance" gear.

Fucking ridiculous.
